St. Mary's Parish - Stewardship Program

From the Diocese of Providence, Office of Stewardship and Development:

As Catholics, we are encouraged to share what we have with others, to respect our neighbors as ourselves and to assist those less fortunate. We typically respond to this request when asked and proceed to go about our daily lives until the next request is heard. What most individuals do not realize is that by sharing of ourselves and helping those around us, we are, in essence, practicing Christian stewardship.

In fact, "stewardship" reaches far beyond financial contributions and encourages Catholics to live their lives as disciples of Jesus. Equipped with this knowledge, we have the power to change how we understand and live out our lives, beginning a life-long process of sharing our gifts of time, talent and treasure out of gratitude, not out of obligation. Living our baptismal promises and becomes the motivational force behind our actions.

St. Mary's Parish Stewardship Mission Statement

St. Mary's is a Stewardship Parish, comprised of the faith-filled communities of St. Mary's Church and St. James Chapel. Together, we are devoted to the spreading of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ through deeds and prayer and the sacrificial giving of our
Time, our Talent and our Treasure.

Through the virtue of Spirituality we endeavor to celebrate the Liturgy in the best traditions
of the Church, to promote participation in small Christian study groups and to develop ministries of spiritual growth within our community.
Through the virtue of Hospitality we endeavor to know and care about each other, to share a deep sense of belonging and to welcome the stranger. Through the virtue of Stewardship we recognize every parish member has a unique gift that can nourish our parish community and beyond. We engage in works of justice and charity by our care and concern for the poor and marginalized.

We commit ourselves to the be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ on earth.
